Abstract

The Sumedang Regency Department of Cooperatives, SMEs, Trade and Industry (DKPP) has utilized information systems to support all its activities. In particular, the Cooperative Sector has utilized the Online Cooperative Information System which can simplify the financial reporting process, monitoring financial reporting, supervising and coaching processes for each cooperative. Problems faced by SIKOPROL users include obstacles for users in understanding the SIKOPROL user interface, users experiencing difficulties in operating SIKOPROL. In this research, a comparison of the two UI/UX Goal-Directed Design and Design Thinking methodologies was carried out to obtain a relevant method applied to the development of SIKOPROL user interface improvements. There are three processes that will be compared from the two methods, namely research, modeling, and requirements compared to empathize, define, and ideate. The research results show that the Goal-Directed Design method is more structured and provides clearly defined solutions based on user experience, needs and behavioral patterns. Meanwhile, the Design Thinking method is more flexible, focuses on empathy and in-depth user experience, and directly involves users to express their ideas. Based on the research results, the most relevant UI/UX methodology recommendation to be applied in developing improvements to the SIKOPROL user interface is the Design Thinking method.
